A widow, Omoniyi Rasaq, and her children were reportedly forced out of their home in Makoko, Lagos, after suspected thugs invaded the property at about 2am and began demolishing the building.
According to report the nine-room apartment on Erejuwa Street was reportedly attacked by men armed with machetes, cudgels and sledgehammers. The occupants were allegedly threatened while the walls and roof of the building were pulled down.
The widow’s daughter said the attackers claimed they were acting on behalf of individuals identified as “Abule” and “Moje” and described themselves as Omonile.

She alleged that some men had earlier approached her mother demanding to see the land documents and later offered ₦10 million for the property, which she reportedly refused, saying the land had been inherited from her late father.
Some tenants were reportedly injured during the incident, while the widow’s daughter sustained a cut to her jaw.
The matter has reportedly been reported to the Zone 2 Police Headquarters in Lagos, as concerns grow over the safety of the affected family and tenants.
