At least three people have reportedly been killed in a fresh attack near communities along the border between Barkin Ladi and Bokkos Local Government Areas of Plateau State.
The attack occurred on Tuesday night, September 15, according to conflict reporter Masara Kim.
The incident happened shortly before Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, was expected to visit Plateau State amid renewed concerns over insecurity.
The latest killings add to a series of violent incidents reported across the state in recent days, with at least 20 people reportedly killed in different communities within the past week.
Disu is scheduled to arrive in Jos on Wednesday, September 16, for a two-day visit focused on security matters and engagements with government officials and other stakeholders.
The Plateau State Police Command had earlier announced that the police chief would arrive at the Jos Airport at 9:30 a.m.
His itinerary includes a courtesy visit to the state governor, an engagement at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies and an inspection of the Police Staff College in Jos.
He is also expected to inspect the Plateau State Police Headquarters on Thursday before departing the state.
The visit comes after several recent attacks across Plateau, including reported violence in Mangu Local Government Area on September 12 and an attack at Dungus Junction, Kuru, in Jos South Local Government Area, on September 13.

The visit is expected to provide an opportunity for security officials, government representatives and other stakeholders to discuss measures to strengthen security operations and protect communities from further attacks.
