
Armed terrorists have reportedly forced several communities in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State to provide food items and essential supplies after issuing threats of attack.
The armed group was said to have invaded four communities—Dakara, Gbenji Gidazana, Kpeya/Biyan, and Giragbasso/Imile allegedly emerging from the Kainji National Park axis.
During the invasion, they reportedly handed over a total of ₦12 million to community leaders to procure requested items.
The funds were distributed as follows: Dakara and Gbenji Gidazana received ₦3.8 million each, while Kpeya/Biyan and Giragbasso/Imile got ₦2.3 million each.
The group allegedly demanded large quantities of food items including rice, sugar, salt, pasta, cooking oil, palm oil, seasoning cubes, and powdered milk.

A community source said a local leader raised an alarm to security operatives, prompting a military response in some affected areas.
During the operation, some of the attackers were reportedly neutralised, and motorcycles believed to belong to the group were recovered.
However, authorities are yet to officially confirm the incident, as the Niger State Police Command declined to comment at the time of filing this report.
Investigations are ongoing as security agencies continue efforts to address rising insecurity in the region.
