Residents of Kano State were thrown into panic after suspected terrorists launched a late-night attack on a community in Rogo Local Government Area, leaving one person dead and several others injured.
The assault occurred on Thursday night, April 23, 2026, around 9:00 p.m. in Barbaji village, Jajaye Ward, when four armed men riding motorcycles stormed the area dressed in khaki.
The attackers reportedly targeted a local vigilante member, identified as Alasan Yellow, shooting him at close range in front of his shop.
Eyewitnesses said the gunfire sparked chaos across the community, with another resident who attempted to intervene also sustaining gunshot injuries.

The assailants then advanced to a nearby vigilante office, where they opened fire indiscriminately, forcing residents to flee for safety.
Confirming the incident, the local vigilante commander, Alhaji Haruna Barhaya, disclosed that one victim died on the spot, while at least four others are receiving treatment for varying degrees of injuries.
One of the injured, said to be in critical condition, was later transferred to a hospital in Gwarzo for further medical care.
Security operatives, alongside local vigilante members, swiftly responded to the attack, evacuating victims and helping to prevent further casualties.
Authorities have since intensified security in the area, deploying joint patrol teams from neighbouring local governments and parts of Kaduna State.
Residents have been urged to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as efforts continue to track down and apprehend those behind the deadly attack.
