A two-storey building under construction collapsed on Wednesday in Sokoto metropolis, with all 15 workers present at the site escaping without injury.
The incident occurred at Unguwar Rogo along Bauchi Road and triggered an immediate emergency response after a distress call was received around 2:23 p.m.
According to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), its Sokoto Operations Office swiftly deployed a Search and Rescue Team to the scene.
Initial assessments confirmed that although workers were on-site at the time of the collapse, no one was trapped, injured, or killed.
Emergency responders carried out a coordinated operation to ensure no victims were buried under the debris, while also securing the area to prevent further hazards.

The response team included officials from the Federal Fire Service, Sokoto State Fire Service, Sokoto State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Sokoto State Urban Planning and Development Authority, the State Association of Civil Engineers, as well as local community members.
Confirming the development, the spokesperson for the Sokoto State Police Command, DSP Ahmad Rufai, stated that no casualties were recorded.
“No life was lost and no injury was recorded in the incident,” he said.
The building owner, Alhaji Auwal Abubakar, described the collapse as unfortunate but expressed gratitude that all workers were safe.
“It is a painful incident, but I thank God that no life was lost,” he noted.
Authorities have since launched an investigation to determine the cause of the structural failure.
