The incident occurred in Ilorin, where the teenager, identified as Gobri Yusuf, had been living with the deceased woman who reportedly adopted and raised him.
According to the Kwara State Police Command, the suspect allegedly attacked the woman inside her residence after an earlier attempt to poison her was unsuccessful.

Preliminary findings revealed that the suspect allegedly hid behind a door and attacked the woman while she was bathing, using several household items.
Police said items recovered from the suspect include a frying pan, a weighing scale, a kitchen turning stick (spatula), and knives believed to have been used in the attack.
During interrogation, the teenager reportedly confessed to committing the crime, stating that he acted out of resentment and anger toward the woman.
According to police, the suspect claimed he felt constantly scolded and maltreated by his guardian, which allegedly fueled his decision to first attempt poisoning her before carrying out the fatal attack.
After the incident, the suspect allegedly changed his clothes and left the residence under the pretext of running an errand. He later contacted the woman’s husband, who returned home and discovered her lifeless body.
The police confirmed that the suspect remains in custody while investigations continue, adding that further legal steps will be taken once the probe is concluded.
