The attack reportedly occurred on Thursday evening, October 8, 2026, when the assailants arrived in large numbers on motorcycles and opened fire, forcing residents to flee for safety.
According to local sources, some residents escaped into nearby bushes as the attackers torched buildings and other properties. The full extent of the destruction remains unclear.
The latest incident has renewed fears among residents of Guyaku District, where several deadly attacks have been recorded in recent months.
On April 26, 2026, Bala-Tela village was attacked during a local football gathering, leaving at least 29 people dead. The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) subsequently claimed responsibility for that attack, according to media reports.
