
A 14-year-old boy, Ezekiel Olapade, has been killed by a stray bullet during a shooting incident near the Irepodun Local Government Secretariat in Ilobu, Osun State.
The tragic incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when suspected hoodlums reportedly opened fire in the area, causing panic among residents and visitors.
Another individual sustained gunshot injuries and was rushed to a hospital for treatment.According to police authorities, armed men led by a suspect identified as Saheed, popularly known as “Tanfeani,” allegedly stormed the vicinity with several accomplices and began shooting indiscriminately.
During the attack, Olapade was struck by a bullet and died at the scene.The Osun State Police Command confirmed that an investigation has commenced and that efforts are underway to arrest the fleeing suspects.
Security operatives have launched a manhunt for those involved in the attack.Eyewitnesses said the gunmen had gathered near the local government secretariat before advancing toward a nearby palm wine joint located opposite the premises.

The relaxation spot, reportedly owned by the deceased boy’s mother, was occupied by several patrons at the time.A resident who witnessed the incident explained that people began running for safety immediately the armed men approached and started shooting.According to the witness, the teenager was not believed to be the intended target.
Instead, he was caught in the crossfire as the attackers fired toward the crowd, resulting in his death.The witness further claimed that the second victim, who sustained gunshot wounds, was wearing a cap bearing the colours of a political party and may have been the intended target of the assailants.
Police authorities assured residents that every effort is being made to apprehend the suspects and bring them to justice, while urging members of the public to provide useful information that could aid the ongoing investigation.The killing has sparked concern among residents of Ilobu, who are calling for increased security measures to prevent further violence in the community.
