
At least six people have died and six others sustained injuries after an improvised explosive device detonated along the Bagega–Anka road in Zamfara State early Thursday morning.
The blast struck a commercial passenger vehicle travelling through Anka Local Government Area around 9 a.m., damaging the vehicle and disrupting traffic on the route. Residents believe the explosive device was planted by suspected bandits and went off as the vehicle passed.

Some passengers died instantly at the scene while others suffered serious injuries and were rushed to hospital for treatment.
Zamfara State Police Command spokesperson DSP Yazid Abubakar confirmed the casualty figures and said security personnel have been deployed to the area. He added that normal activities have since resumed along the road as investigations is ongoing.
