
At least seven people have been killed following a violent clash between farmers and herders in Lanzai and Dosho communities of Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The incident reportedly began when suspected herders attacked farmers working on farmland on the outskirts of Lanzai community. The attack sparked tension in the area and led to a retaliatory response by local youths.
According to the Bauchi State Police Command, the aggrieved youths later invaded Dosho, a settlement predominantly occupied by Fulani herders, setting parts of the community ablaze. During the violence, about 50 huts and several household belongings were destroyed.

Police authorities confirmed that seven people lost their lives, while six others sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment. Several homes and personal properties were also damaged during the unrest.
In response to the crisis, security operatives were deployed to the affected communities to prevent further violence. The police said tactical teams and personnel from the Violent Crime Response Unit have been mobilised, while patrols have been intensified in Lanzai, Dosho and neighbouring areas.
The Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident. He assured residents that those responsible for both the initial attack and the retaliatory violence would be identified and brought to justice.
Authorities said efforts are ongoing to restore normalcy and maintain peace in the affected communities.
