
A joint security team has rescued 17 pupils and students abducted in Kogi State on April 27, as operations intensify to free nine others still held by kidnappers.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama said sustained pressure and strategic operations led to the rescue. The freed victims are Sultan, Zeidah, Ahmed, Yusuf, Farooq, Museen, Mustapha, Hasheem, Mohammed, Toheer, Abdulmumin, Abdulazeem, Mahmud, Ameerah, Firdaus, Tabarakallah, and Ibrahim.

Nine victims remain in captivity, including two women identified as wives of the school’s proprietor. Those still held are Habibullah, Shakir, Ahmed, Abdulhammed, Mubarak, Sultannah, Zulaiha, Nana-Hawa, and Halimat.
Security operatives have ramped up bush-combing, real-time tracking, and surveillance to secure their release. Intensified surveillance stops and increased patrols are active at major transit points, including the Kabba Junction and Zariagi axis.
