According to the command, Commissioner of Police Ojo Adekimi has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to immediately take over the case and deploy all available investigative and intelligence resources to track down those responsible for the killing.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Garba left his home to work on his farm along the Owa-Onire axis, between Isanlu-Isin and Owu-Isin, but did not return. Concerned family members and local vigilantes launched a search after he failed to come home.
His motorcycle was later found parked on the farm, while his body was discovered a short distance away with multiple machete wounds.
The police said no arrests have been made so far, but investigators are following several leads and remain committed to uncovering the circumstances surrounding the killing.
The development comes days after Garba’s family appealed to security agencies to ensure those behind the murder are identified and prosecuted.
Speaking on behalf of the family, the deceased’s second daughter, Rofiat Abdulazeez, said her father left home for his cocoa farm but never returned. She explained that local hunters eventually found his body in a nearby bush after locating his motorcycle.
She urged authorities to ensure justice is served, saying the family would continue to seek accountability until those responsible for the crime are arrested and prosecuted.
