Reality star and actor Saga Adeolu says onscreen kissing is “weird” and far from glamorous, pushing back on the idea that romantic scenes are a perk of the job.
Speaking on the Nolly Icons podcast, Adeolu said he has never had a “good” onscreen kiss despite taking several romantic roles. He described the process as a professional sacrifice, not a pleasure. “People invading your mouth with saliva” while cameras roll feels strange, he said.
Adeolu argued there is a major disconnect between how audiences see screen romance and how actors experience it. Most actors do these scenes only for the story, he said, not for personal enjoyment. “It is not something we enjoy,” he added. “If I had the choice, I would skip the kissing scenes entirely.”

He recalled one exhausting day on set when he had to kiss four different actresses for separate scenes.
Beyond the physical discomfort, Adeolu wants the industry and the public to rethink how they judge actors in romantic roles. He said performers deserve credit for navigating awkward, vulnerable moments to serve the script.
By calling onscreen kissing an “occupational demand” rather than a romantic highlight, Adeolu hopes to dispel myths about Nollywood leading men and the so-called magic of the silver screen kiss.
