The Kaduna State Police Command says four suspected kidnappers were killed and two kidnapped victims rescued during separate security operations in Ikara and Makarfi Local Government Areas.
The operations, carried out in collaboration with the Kaduna Vigilance Service (KADVS), also resulted in the arrest of 12 suspects and the recovery of weapons and other items allegedly linked to criminal activities.
According to the police spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, the Ikara operation took place around 5am on Wednesday, September 16, following intelligence on suspected criminal activity in Yoromowa, Auchanawa Village.
Police and KADVS personnel reportedly encountered armed resistance when they arrived at the residence of a suspected kidnapper, leading to a gun battle.
The police said four suspected kidnappers were killed during the encounter, while two victims were rescued. Three of those killed were identified as Kabiru Haruna, Suleman Abdulkarim and Yusuf Haruna, also known as Burgagau.

Twelve other suspects were arrested during the operation and are currently assisting investigators in determining their alleged roles and uncovering possible links to a wider criminal network.
In a separate operation conducted around the Arabu Forest Reserve in Makarfi on September 15, security personnel recovered two locally made guns, three sacks of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and a military camouflage T-shirt.
The Kaduna Police Command said clearance operations would continue in the affected areas to prevent criminals from regrouping or establishing new hideouts.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Rabiu, commended the security personnel and members of the public whose information contributed to the operations, while reaffirming the command’s commitment to intelligence-led efforts against kidnapping and other crimes across the state.
