
The Bauchi State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against kidnapping, successfully rescuing two abducted victims and arresting five suspected kidnappers in Alkaleri Local Government Area.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Habib, the incident occurred on June 2, 2026, when armed men stormed a residence in Kwarin Gadali Hamlet, Pali District, abducting a 40-year-old woman and her 25-year-old son.
Following a distress report, police operatives swiftly launched an intelligence-driven operation, mobilizing personnel to track down the perpetrators and secure the victims’ release.
Acting on credible intelligence, a joint security team comprising police officers, military personnel, and local vigilantes apprehended three suspects in Kuka Village, Duguri District. The suspects were identified as Mainasara Umaru (23), Buba Umaru (20), and Muhammadu Usman (19).
Further investigation led to the arrest of two additional suspects on June 3, after one of the arrested individuals reportedly provided useful information about the kidnapping and the victims’ whereabouts.

Another suspect, Ahmadu Umaru, was subsequently arrested in Dalgade.
The victims were rescued unhurt during a follow-up operation and have been taken to the General Hospital in Alkaleri for medical evaluation.
The police confirmed that all suspects are currently in custody, and the case has been transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for thorough investigation.
Authorities also disclosed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing accomplices and recover weapons used in the crime.
