The Airport Police Command has dismissed reports of a terrorist attack and security breach at the Asaba International Airport in Delta State.
According to the Command, the security operation witnessed at the airport was part of a simulation exercise conducted by the Office of the National Security Adviser on Thursday, September 10, 2026.
The exercise was designed to test the preparedness and response capabilities of security and emergency-response agencies, including their communication, command and control systems during potential security emergencies.
The police explained that armed personnel were deployed to recreate a simulated security incident within the airport environment, stressing that the operation was a controlled and authorised exercise and not an actual attack.
