
The Gombe State Police Command has apprehended a 35-year-old man, identified as Musa Adamu, for allegedly attempting to murder his girlfriend in a violent early-morning attack.
According to police reports, the suspect unlawfully gained access to the victim’s residence in the Riyal Quarters area by scaling the fence and forcefully breaking into her room at about 2:00 a.m. on June 9, 2026.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, disclosed that the suspect reportedly attacked the victim with an iron hammer and attempted to strangle her using a USB cable. He also allegedly robbed her of ₦100,000 during the incident.
“The victim sustained serious injuries but managed to raise an alarm, forcing the suspect to flee the scene,” Abdullahi stated.
Following a formal complaint lodged at the Pantami Divisional Police Headquarters, officers swiftly responded, ensuring the victim received immediate medical attention. She was treated at a hospital and later discharged.

Police operatives subsequently launched an investigation, leading to the arrest of the suspect at approximately 9:45 a.m. the same day.
Authorities recovered an iron hammer suspected to be stained with blood, along with a USB cable believed to have been used in the attack.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had earlier demanded money from the victim, a businesswoman, but she declined—an action believed to have triggered the assault.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue and will be charged to court upon completion.
The Gombe State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
