The Bayelsa State Police Command has confirmed that a toddler who disappeared from a Catholic church in the state nearly three months ago was allegedly abducted.
The child reportedly went missing on June 21, 2026, after her parents took her to church and handed her over to a teacher at the children’s department during service.
According to the child’s father, the family returned after the service to pick her up but were informed that she could not be found. The matter was subsequently reported to the police, while the family also petitioned authorities seeking further intervention.
Confirming the case, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Musa Mohammed, said the police were actively investigating the incident.

He explained that details about the investigation could not be disclosed at the moment, as doing so could affect efforts to locate the child and identify those responsible.
The police assured the family that efforts were ongoing to rescue the toddler and apprehend those behind her disappearance.
However, authorities have not disclosed whether any suspect has been arrested or whether the child’s current whereabouts have been established.
The family continues to appeal to members of the public to assist with information that could help locate their missing daughter.
