Tension is mounting across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, and parts of neighbouring Niger State following reports of a planned large-scale attack by suspected insurgent groups.
According to local and international intelligence reports, fighters linked to Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) are allegedly plotting coordinated attacks on critical government facilities.
The reported targets include the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, the Kuje Correctional Centre, and a military detention facility located in nearby Niger State.
Security sources suggest that the suspected attacks may be aimed at freeing detained insurgents currently held in correctional facilities.
A source within the Nigerian Customs Service confirmed the existence of a viral internal memo referencing the security alert but declined to provide further details.

“It was an internal memo and not meant for public circulation,” the source stated.
The development has heightened concerns among residents, with growing anxiety fueled by circulating reports of possible attacks within the nation’s capital.
Despite the fears, the Commissioner of Police for the FCT Command, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, has reassured the public that Abuja remains secure.
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, Sanusi emphasized that security agencies are on high alert and fully prepared to respond to any threat.
Residents have, however, been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities
