
The management of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, Kogi State, has arrested two additional suspected cultists as part of its ongoing clampdown on cult-related activities on campus.
The suspects, identified as Fidelis Atuluku and Monday Okolo, are both 100-level students in the Department of Social Studies/Education, Faculty of Education. According to the university authorities, the duo were apprehended on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, following credible intelligence.
They were reportedly found in possession of charms and have confessed to being members of the notorious Juris Confraternity.
Preliminary findings revealed that they were initiated into the cult group prior to gaining admission into the university.
The institution disclosed that the suspects will be handed over to relevant law enforcement agencies for further investigation and prosecution.
In a statement issued by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Uredo Omale, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, reaffirmed the institution’s zero-tolerance stance on cultism and other criminal activities.
He emphasized that the university remains committed to restoring sanity and ensuring a safe learning environment for students and staff.

Professor Usman also urged parents and guardians to closely monitor their children and wards, advising them to be mindful of peer influence that could lead to involvement in cult-related activities.
As part of its broader strategy, the university has commenced profiling of cult members willing to renounce their membership.
Such individuals are required to voluntarily submit themselves to the authorities and sign an undertaking pledging to abstain from cultism.
The Vice-Chancellor further revealed plans to organize a formal renunciation ceremony for those ready to publicly denounce cult affiliations and embrace lawful conduct.
He expressed appreciation to security agencies, religious leaders, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders for their continued support in maintaining peace within and around the university community.
Students were also encouraged to support the institution’s efforts by providing useful information and promoting a culture of safety and responsibility on campus.
