A 38-year-old man identified as Michael has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command over the alleged sexual abuse of his 13-year-old stepdaughter in the Agege area of the state.
The suspect was reportedly arrested alongside another man described by the police as the teenager’s boyfriend following a complaint made by the girl’s biological father.
According to reports, the girl had allegedly been repeatedly abused while living with her stepfather. She reportedly ran away from home on several occasions before eventually returning to her biological father, to whom she disclosed the alleged abuse.
Following the disclosure, the father reportedly lodged a complaint at a police station in Ketu, prompting police authorities to commence an investigation.

Confirming the arrests, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, said both suspects had been detained while the teenager was taken for medical examination.
The police spokesperson said the survivor was taken to the Mirabel Centre for medical attention and was expected to be transferred to the Gender Unit in Ikeja for further investigation.
The police have not disclosed further details about the ongoing investigation.
Authorities are expected to determine the circumstances surrounding the allegations and establish the facts of the case as investigations continue.
