The Nigeria Police Force has arrested five suspects in Bauchi State over the alleged possession of two suspected human eyes and other items believed to be linked to ritual activities.
The suspects were reportedly apprehended on August 26 by operatives of the Intelligence Unit attached to the Zone 12 Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force in Bauchi.
The Zone 12 Police Public Relations Officer, SP Jalige Mohammed, disclosed the development in a statement, noting that officers recovered two suspected human eyes, pieces of red and white cloth, and other materials during the operation.
The arrested suspects were identified as Abdullahi Idris, Sani Haruna, Auwal Umar, Abubakar Yusuf and Sharu Sale.
According to the police, the suspects are currently in custody and assisting investigators as detectives work to determine the source of the recovered items and the circumstances surrounding their possession.

The police also said investigations are ongoing to establish whether other individuals may be connected to the case.
The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 12, Vungmoh S. M. Kwaimo, expressed concern over the incident and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
He assured members of the public that the police would continue operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and protecting lives and property across the zone.
The suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.
