Several shops have been destroyed by fire at the Pumpum Nuri Water Site in Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe State, leaving traders with losses estimated at millions of naira.
The fire reportedly broke out at about 11pm on Monday while residents were indoors, according to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Yobe State Command.
The inferno affected several shops at the water site before it was eventually brought under control by responders.
The NSCDC, in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, SC Bala Garba, said the cause of the fire had not been established as of the time of the report.

The corps noted that traders and other business owners whose shops were affected suffered significant financial losses, with the total damage estimated to be worth millions of naira.
While the extent of the destruction was still being assessed, the NSCDC confirmed that no lives were lost and no casualties were recorded in the incident.
Authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the fire and assess the full extent of the damage.
