The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested five young men suspected of belonging to a gang allegedly involved in armed robbery and street violence in Yola South Local Government Area.
The suspects were identified by the police as Nura Aliyu, 20; Abubakar Adamu, 21; Abubakar Muhammed, 23; Abdulhameed Yusuf, 18; and Yusuf Husseini, 20.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the arrests followed intelligence gathered in connection with an alleged armed robbery operation around Masallashi Biyu in the Kofare area of Yola.
The police alleged that the suspects were members of the Shila group, a term commonly associated with gangs involved in street violence, extortion and robbery in parts of Adamawa.

During the operation, officers reportedly recovered five machetes allegedly linked to the suspected criminal activities.
The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, has directed that the suspects be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The command reiterated its commitment to tackling criminal activities and maintaining peace and security across the state.
