
The Enugu State Police Command has arrested five suspects over the alleged vandalism and theft of public infrastructure across the state.
The suspects were arrested in three separate operations involving the alleged theft of a solar street light, road traffic signs and materials belonging to the Enugu State Water Corporation.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, two suspects, Wisdom Nuhu and Moses Jonathan, were arrested on September 27 at a scrap dump in New Artisan Market while allegedly negotiating the sale of a stolen solar street light.

Another suspect, 35-year-old Chukwudi Nwigbo, was arrested along Abakaliki Road after he and an accomplice were allegedly detected removing road traffic signs.
In a separate operation, police arrested Zubairu Hamanpedimso, 31, and Mohamed Adamu, 21, over the alleged vandalism and theft of materials belonging to the Enugu State Water Corporation. Iron materials, bolts and nuts were reportedly recovered from them.
The police said all five suspects had been arraigned and remanded in correctional custody pending further hearing, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspects allegedly involved in the vandalism.
