
Troops of the Nigerian Army have killed one suspected terrorist, arrested another and recovered an AK-47 rifle during an operation in Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The operation was carried out on Monday, October 5, at Abakuradi Village after security forces received intelligence about the movement of suspected terrorists in the area.
Troops from the 159 Battalion, working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, quickly moved to the location and engaged the suspected terrorists.
The Army said one terrorist was killed during the encounter, while another was arrested. Several others reportedly escaped with suspected gunshot wounds.
An AK-47 rifle and a magazine were also recovered from the area following the operation.

The military said troops were continuing to search the area and pursue the fleeing terrorists to prevent them from regrouping or carrying out further attacks.
The Army described the operation as another result of intelligence-led efforts and cooperation between security forces and local security stakeholders.
It reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining pressure on terrorists and other criminal elements while working to protect communities and restore peace in affected areas.
