Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command’s Anti-Cult Unit have been accused of raiding a family residence in Amorji Nike, Enugu East Local Government Area, during an early-morning operation.
The incident reportedly occurred around 4am on September 10, 2026, as the officers were allegedly searching for Chibueze Kingsley Ifenze, the brother of 20-year-old Izu Chukwu Ifenze Nelson.
According to Nelson and the Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre (RULAAC), the officers allegedly failed to find Chibueze and subsequently searched Nelson’s room, taking three mobile phones, a laptop, chargers, two power banks and other personal belongings.
The family also alleged that the officers did not present a warrant and that Nelson’s mother was threatened when she questioned the reason for the operation.

RULAAC later petitioned the Enugu State Police Command, seeking clarification on the raid, the reason Chibueze was being sought and the legal basis for retaining Nelson’s belongings.
The organisation also requested an investigation into an alleged demand for ₦100,000 before the seized items could reportedly be released.
An officer identified by the family as “Chief Ugwu” denied involvement in the operation, while the family maintained that they saw him among the operatives.
As of the time of the report, the Enugu State Police Command had not responded to SaharaReporters’ enquiries regarding the allegations.
