The FCT Police Command has arrested a man in Abuja for allegedly confining his sister in a room for over a year. The arrest followed a distress report received by the command on June 12, 2026.
According to the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, the victim, Grace Aniekuoku, 36, was found in poor health after being held captive by her elder brother, Chinedu Aniekuoku. Police officers from Katampe Division were dispatched to the scene and gained entry after initial resistance from the suspect.
Sanusi said the victim was rescued and immediately taken to hospital for medical care. He added that preliminary investigations revealed the suspect had also allegedly taken away the victim’s son to an unknown location about two years ago and kept his sister confined to stop her from asking about the child.
