A woman and two farm workers in Iwo, Osun State, are seeking justice after allegedly being attacked on a farmland, with questions now surrounding the handling of the case by the police.
The incident reportedly occurred on August 26, 2026, at Oke-Oba, near the Osun-Oyo boundary, when three men allegedly confronted the woman and the two workers while they were harvesting palm fruits.
According to the Osun Amotekun Corps, the suspects allegedly attacked the woman and attempted to force her away from the farmland.
Two men identified as 55-year-old Fatai Balogun and 52-year-old Rafiu Adesola Balogun were subsequently arrested after residents raised an alarm.
The Amotekun Corps said a barrel gun and a cutlass were recovered from the suspects before they were taken to its headquarters in Osogbo. The case was later transferred to the Zone XI Police Command for further investigation.
However, the victims and a human rights advocate have raised concerns over what happened after the police took over the matter.
Nurudeen Ibraheem, Executive Director of Hope For The Common Man Foundation, alleged that the two suspects were released on August 29, the same day they were taken to the police command, without the victims being informed.

Ibraheem further alleged that repeated attempts by the victims to have the suspects brought forward for investigation were unsuccessful.
The matter reportedly took another turn when the victims met the newly deployed Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone XI, Bassey S. Ewah.
According to Ibraheem, the AIG directed officers to produce the suspects, but they were allegedly not brought before the victims before they left the command.
He also alleged that an officer subsequently presented the suspects as the complainants, while the original victims were treated as respondents.
The Zone XI Police Public Relations Officer, Tunji Ojedele, had earlier confirmed that the case was under investigation.
Following the latest development, the AIG reportedly directed all parties to return on Friday with a fresh order requiring the suspects to be produced.
The victims are now seeking a transparent investigation and justice over the alleged attack, while questions remain about the circumstances surrounding the police handling of the case.
