A tragic road accident involving two trucks has claimed the life of one person and left another injured along the Sagamu-Benin Expressway in Ogun State.
The crash occurred around noon on Monday at the J4 section of the Benin-Ore Expressway in Ijebu East Local Government Area.
According to the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), the accident involved a white Howo truck with registration number FSK 274 XA and a blue tractor that had no registration number.
Three adult males were involved in the accident. One person died at the scene, while another sustained injuries and was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.
TRACE spokesperson, Babatunde Akinbiyi, said preliminary findings and eyewitness accounts indicated that excessive speeding and loss of control by one of the truck drivers caused the crash.

Emergency responders from TRACE and the Nigeria Police arrived at the scene shortly after the incident to begin rescue operations and manage traffic.
The injured victim was taken to Hope Hospital in J4 for medical attention, while the damaged vehicles were evacuated to allow for a proper investigation.
Although traffic was temporarily disrupted during the rescue and evacuation process, normal movement along the expressway has since been restored.
Authorities have once again urged motorists to avoid excessive speeding, stressing that reckless driving continues to be a major cause of fatal accidents on Nigerian roads.
