The Ondo State Government has denied reports that a man arrested over the alleged possession of illicit drugs and a firearm is an aide to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
The government, in a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, said the man, identified as Hon. Ware Ojo, popularly known as “Aruwe, Authority 001,” holds no political appointment in the Aiyedatiwa administration.
Ojo and his wife were reportedly arrested in Oka-Akoko after police allegedly recovered substances suspected to be cocaine, methamphetamine, opium and other illicit drugs from their residence. A locally fabricated firearm was also reportedly recovered, with the suspected drugs said to be worth over ₦30 million.
The incident reportedly escalated when some individuals allegedly attacked police officers following Ojo’s arrest. Two officers, Sergeant Abiodun and Inspector Osha, were reportedly injured and taken to Faith Hospital, Oka-Akoko, for treatment.

A Lexus RX 350 SUV with registration number AUTHORITY 01 was also reportedly recovered in connection with the incident.
While earlier reports described Ojo as a recently appointed aide to Governor Aiyedatiwa, the Ondo State Government has categorically denied the claim, stating that he has no political appointment under the current administration.
The government has urged the Nigeria Police Force to thoroughly investigate the matter and ensure that due process is followed.
The police have yet to publicly clarify the circumstances surrounding the reported arrest, alleged attack on its personnel and subsequent release of the suspect.
