The Ondo State Police Command has reportedly arrested a newly appointed aide to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Hon. Ware Ojo, popularly known as “Aruwe, Authority 001,” alongside his wife over alleged possession of illicit drugs and a locally fabricated firearm.
The couple were reportedly arrested at their residence in Oka-Akoko, where police operatives allegedly recovered substances suspected to be cocaine, methamphetamine, opium and other illicit drugs reportedly valued at more than ₦30 million.
A locally fabricated firearm was also said to have been recovered during the operation, alongside a Lexus RX 350 SUV with the registration number “AUTHORITY 01.”
Following Ojo’s arrest, he was alleged to have mobilised some individuals who reportedly attacked the police station in protest against his detention.
Two police officers, identified as Sergeant Abiodun and Inspector Osha, were reportedly injured during the incident and taken to Faith Hospital in Oka-Akoko for treatment.
However, Ojo was subsequently said to have been released from police custody after the Divisional Police Officer of the Oka-Akoko Division, SP Makanjuola Damilola, allegedly received a telephone call from Governor Aiyedatiwa.
