The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 12 suspected cultists accused of assaulting and extorting patrons at Harodous Hotel, Lattykay, Igbesa, in the state.
The suspects were reportedly arrested on August 3, 2026, following credible intelligence received by operatives of the Idi-Oke Divisional Police Station.
According to the police, the suspects allegedly attacked patrons with dangerous weapons, including knives and battle axes, while using assorted charms and cult-related paraphernalia to intimidate and extort money and other valuables from their victims.
Police operatives reportedly cordoned off the area during the operation and apprehended 12 suspects, while several others escaped and are currently being pursued.
Items recovered from the scene included assorted charms, battle axes, knives, cult paraphernalia, eight motorcycles, one black Lexus vehicle and an unregistered red Toyota Camry.

The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued in Abeokuta.
He said the arrested suspects would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation, while efforts to apprehend those who fled the scene remain ongoing.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing, proactive patrols, rapid response and collaboration with other security agencies to tackle criminal activities across the state.
Ojajuni also urged residents to remain vigilant and provide the police with credible and timely information that could assist in preventing crime and apprehending suspects.
The police assured residents that the Command would continue its efforts to protect lives and property and maintain security across Ogun State.
