
The President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Engr. Ali Alimasuya Rabiu, FNSE, F.ASCE, FAEng, MFR, on Thursday, August 20, 2026, led members of the Executive Committee (EXCO) on a courtesy visit to the Emir of Lafia and Chairman of the Nasarawa State Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Highness, Hon. Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad I, at his Palace in Lafia.
The visit marked the end of the NSE EXCO’s two-day infrastructure tour of Nasarawa State, which commenced on Tuesday, August 18, and concluded on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. The tour was undertaken to inspect key legacy infrastructure projects executed by the administration of the Governor of Nasarawa State, His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, FNSE.
During the audience, Engr. Rabiu expressed profound appreciation to the Emir for the warm reception accorded to the Society’s leadership. He also conveyed the condolences of the NSE to His Royal Highness and the people of the Lafia Emirate over the passing of Dankande Lafia, a distinguished son of the Emirate who, until his demise, was a close personal friend of the NSE President.

The President informed the Emir that the EXCO was in Nasarawa State following the Governor’s gracious approval for the Society to undertake a professional assessment of the State’s landmark infrastructure projects. He explained that paying homage to the Emir formed an important part of the programme, as the EXCO sought the royal blessings of the traditional institution before proceeding to its Executive Committee meeting, which the Governor had graciously agreed to host.
Engr. Rabiu further requested the permission of His Royal Highness for the EXCO to tour the Palace Museum, a request the Emir warmly granted.
In his remarks, His Royal Highness, Hon. Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad I, wholeheartedly welcomed the NSE delegation and commended the Society for selecting Nasarawa State for its infrastructure tour. He expressed appreciation for the professional guidance and constructive recommendations the NSE had consistently offered the administration of Governor Abdullahi Sule in the pursuit of quality, durable and sustainable infrastructure across the State.
The Emir bestowed his royal blessings on the NSE, praying for greater wisdom, unity and success in the Society’s continued contribution to Nigeria’s development through engineering excellence.
The visit concluded with a guided tour of the Palace Museum, where His Royal Highness personally shared the rich history, cultural heritage and political evolution of the Lafia Emirate, offering the EXCO a deeper appreciation of the enduring legacy of one of Nigeria’s foremost traditional institutions.
The courtesy visit provided a fitting conclusion to the NSE EXCO’s engagement in Nasarawa State, reinforcing the Society’s commitment to fostering collaboration with government and traditional institutions in advancing sustainable national development.
