Popular Nigerian gospel singer, Chidinma Ekile, has opened up about a difficult period in her life when she travelled abroad and made plans to settle permanently outside Nigeria.
The singer disclosed that before transitioning from secular music to gospel music, she left Nigeria with no intention of returning, as she was processing documents to secure permanent residency abroad.
Speaking at a recent event organised by Eezee Conceptz, Chidinma explained that her plans did not work out as expected, eventually leading to her return to Nigeria.
According to her, the Chief Executive Officer of Eezee Conceptz was the only person who consistently reached out to her while she was abroad. His calls and encouragement, she said, played a significant role in her decision to return home.
Chidinma recalled that upon her return, she approached the music executive and requested a gospel music contract because she wanted to dedicate more time to building her relationship with God.

She said the executive granted her request, offering her a contract that was so generous her lawyer reportedly described it as resembling charity.
The singer further explained that her decision to leave secular music was not initially driven by a desire to become a gospel artiste but by her personal desire to develop a deeper relationship with God.
Chidinma, who rose to fame after winning the third season of Project Fame West Africa in 2010, has since established herself in the Nigerian gospel music scene.
Her revelation offers insight into the personal experiences and decisions that influenced her transition from mainstream entertainment to gospel music.
