The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has apprehended two suspected vandals in separate intelligence-driven operations across the state.
The arrests were confirmed by the State Commandant, Mohammed Agalama, during a press briefing held at the command headquarters on Monday.
According to him, the suspects were arrested in Panshekara area of Kumbotso Local Government Area and Yankaba in Nassarawa Local Government Area.
Agalama identified the suspects as 22-year-old Gath Gamaliel from Zango, Kaduna State, and 31-year-old Salisu Jibrin, a resident of Kurna in Dala Local Government Area of Kano State.
He revealed that Gamaliel was caught in possession of 17 vandalised railway clips, while Jibrin was arrested while attempting to collect about 60 kilograms of suspected stolen copper cables believed to have been removed from public infrastructure.

The Commandant noted that the arrests were part of ongoing efforts by the NSCDC to safeguard critical national assets and infrastructure across Kano State’s 44 local government areas.
He emphasized that vandalism poses a serious threat to national development and economic stability.
He further disclosed that investigations are ongoing to uncover other members of the syndicate involved in the illegal activities. The suspects are expected to be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
Agalama also called on members of the public to remain vigilant and support security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could help protect public infrastructure.
The NSCDC reaffirmed its commitment to combating vandalism and other economic crimes in the state.
