Northern CAN has condemned the renewed attacks in Plateau State that left at least 13 people dead and several others injured, calling on the Federal and state governments to take immediate steps to protect residents.
The latest attacks occurred in Jos South, Mangu and Riyom Local Government Areas. Nine passengers travelling to Jos were reportedly killed when gunmen opened fire on their vehicle at Dungus in Jos South.
Two others were killed at Vodni in Pushit District, Mangu, while another two lost their lives at Tahoos in Riyom. Four people were also injured in the Mangu attack.
In a statement, Chairman of Northern CAN, Rev. Yakubu Pam, expressed concern over the recurring violence and called for an immediate end to the killings.

The Christian body urged the Federal Government and Plateau State Government to strengthen security measures and review the nation’s security architecture, noting that Nigerians should be able to live, work and raise their families without fear of attacks.
The Plateau State Government also condemned the violence and appealed to residents to avoid reprisals that could worsen tensions.
Northern CAN further called on authorities to prioritise peace and the protection of lives, while urging Plateau residents to remain united and support efforts toward lasting peace.
