Parents and community leaders in Mussa and Lassa communities of Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State have threatened to march on the Presidential Villa, Abuja, if their abducted children are not rescued within six days.
The parents made the threat on Monday during a protest over the continued captivity of 36 students of Government Day Secondary School, Lassa, who were abducted in June while sitting for the National Examinations Council (NECO) examination.
The students have reportedly spent more than 130 days in captivity following an attack on the school by armed insurgents.
Ishaku Suya, chairman of the Borno pupils’ parents, appealed to President Bola Tinubu to direct security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the students’ release.

The parents also questioned what they described as differences in the government’s response to school abductions in different parts of the country, citing the recent rescue of abducted children in Oyo State.
Josphin Yohanna, one of the parents, said families in the North-East also deserve urgent government intervention.
Meanwhile, Wadzani Hammatu, acting district head of Lassa, said some of the victims include very young children, while the Emir of Uba, Ali Samaila Mamza, appealed to the federal, state and local governments to intensify efforts to secure the safe return of the abducted children.
The families have given the government six days to secure the release of the children, warning that they could take their protest to Aso Rock if there is no progress.
