
The Nigerian Navy has successfully rescued and evacuated victims following the collapse of a two-storey building in the Alakija area of Lagos State.
In a statement released by the Director of Naval Information, Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the Navy disclosed that the rescue operation commenced immediately after receiving a distress call about the incident.
Naval personnel were swiftly deployed to the scene, where they collaborated with other emergency response agencies in a coordinated search-and-rescue effort.
According to the statement, several victims were pulled from the rubble and promptly transported to the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital in Ojo, Lagos, where they are currently receiving emergency medical treatment and ongoing care.
Captain Folorunsho commended the swift response, professionalism, and dedication of the rescue team, noting that their timely intervention was critical in saving lives.

The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, also praised the courage and commitment displayed by both the rescue operatives and the medical personnel involved in attending to the victims.
He further appreciated the support and cooperation of other emergency agencies and members of the public whose efforts contributed to the success of the operation.
The Nigerian Navy extended its sympathy to families affected by the incident and wished the injured victims a speedy recovery.
The service reiterated its commitment to providing humanitarian assistance and supporting civil authorities in emergency situations as part of its constitutional responsibilities.
