
One Dead, Several Rescued in Lagos Building Collapse and Truck Crash
A tragic series of incidents in Lagos State has left one person dead and several others injured following a building collapse and a separate truck accident in different parts of the state.
According to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the fatality occurred during a partial collapse of a three-storey building under construction at No. 1 Josephine Fingesi Street, off Wole Olateju Street, Lekki Phase 1.
The agency’s spokesperson revealed that nine individuals were affected by the collapse. Seven adult males were rescued alive and given immediate medical attention, while one person was confirmed dead at the scene.
Another victim is still missing as search and rescue operations continue.
In a separate incident, a truck accident along Old Abeokuta Road inward Abattoir left one person seriously injured.

The accident occurred late Thursday night when an articulated truck carrying a 40-foot container reportedly suffered brake failure while descending the road.
The truck lost control and collided head-on with a Toyota Highlander. The driver of the SUV sustained severe fractures in both legs and one arm and had to be rescued from the wreckage by emergency responders. Two other occupants of the vehicle escaped unhurt.
Emergency teams worked overnight to clear the accident scene and recover the damaged vehicles, restoring normal traffic flow by Friday.
Reacting to both incidents, LASEMA authorities assured the public that rescue efforts are ongoing, particularly at the building collapse site, with multiple agencies working together to ensure no victims remain trapped.
Officials emphasized that saving lives remains the top priority while maintaining safety standards for all responders involved in the operations.
