A Nigerian woman working as a domestic worker in Libya has accused her employer and members of his family of physically assaulting her after she requested a day off because of ill health.
The woman, identified as Queen Isha on TikTok, narrated her experience in a video shared online, claiming that she had worked for the family for three years before the alleged incident.
According to her, she informed her employers that she was unwell and unable to carry out her duties for the day. However, they allegedly dismissed her explanation, accusing her of pretending to be sick.
Queen Isha, who disclosed that she suffers from asthma, said the disagreement escalated after she insisted that her health condition prevented her from working.
She alleged that her employer and other members of the family subsequently beat her, leaving injuries on her hand, which she displayed in the video.

Expressing her frustration, she questioned why requesting just one day off after three years of service would warrant such treatment.
She further claimed that her employers threatened to withhold their workers’ salaries if she failed to work that day.
The domestic worker also expressed fears about how easily her employers could replace her if she died, despite her years of service to the family.
She, however, stated that the family eventually paid the money owed to her following the alleged assault.
The identities of the alleged perpetrators and the exact location of the incident have not been independently established.
The development has renewed concerns about the welfare, safety and protection of Nigerian migrant workers, particularly domestic workers abroad who may be exposed to exploitation and abuse due to their dependence on employers for employment and accommodation.
