He explained that the unit currently operates from six locations: Oriire, Ogbomoso, Iseyin, Lanlate, Igboora and Oyo. The proposed expansion is expected to improve surveillance, patrol operations and intervention in areas experiencing farmer-herder tensions.
The commandant noted that the unit had continued to engage farmers, herders, agricultural merchants and transporters through mediation, sensitisation and enlightenment programmes aimed at preventing conflicts.
He added that regular patrols and collaboration with other security agencies had also helped prevent criminal activities and protect lives, property and agricultural investments.
Padonu urged farmers, herders and community leaders to embrace dialogue, respect lawful boundaries and avoid actions capable of triggering violence.
He further encouraged residents to report suspicious activities to the nearest NSCDC formation, assuring them that the command would sustain its efforts towards strengthening security and peaceful relations among agricultural stakeholders.
