The Nigerian Navy has uncovered approximately 182,000 litres of suspected stolen crude oil stored in illegal dugout pits at Bethel Creeks, Rivers State.
The discovery was made on September 22 by the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Bonny during a follow-up operation based on intelligence about suspicious activities in the area.
According to the Navy, officers found eight dugout pits, five of which contained the suspected stolen crude oil, while hoses believed to have been used to transfer the product were also recovered.

The operation comes less than two weeks after the Navy discovered about 87,000 litres of suspected stolen crude oil at illegal refining sites around Aworkiri.
The Navy said the latest operation is part of efforts to disrupt crude oil theft and dismantle the infrastructure used to store and transport stolen petroleum products in the region.
