The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has carried out fresh airstrikes on terrorist hideouts in the Sambisa Forest axis of Borno State on May 26, 2026, destroying several camps and neutralising multiple fighters in a renewed counter-insurgency operation in the North-East.
According to a statement from the Air Force, the operation was executed under the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, following intelligence reports that identified active insurgent locations and logistics structures within Biramiri in the Gezuwa area.
The statement explained that precision air assets were deployed to hit the targets after Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) confirmed sustained terrorist activity in the area.

The strikes reportedly destroyed key facilities used by insurgents for coordination and supply storage, while several fighters were killed during the coordinated bombardment.
Military authorities noted that the operation has further weakened terrorist mobility within the Sambisa Forest, reducing their ability to regroup or launch coordinated attacks.
The Air Force added that the ongoing air campaign is part of sustained efforts by the Nigerian Air Force to support ground troops and maintain pressure on terrorist networks operating across the North-East.
Sambisa Forest, located in Borno State, remains one of the most active strongholds in Nigeria’s long-running counter-insurgency operations.
