The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 43-year-old man, Edebiri Temitope, in connection with the death of his 38-year-old neighbour, Oje Michael Eje, in Mowe, Ogun State.
The suspect, who was initially reported to be at large, was arrested and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.
According to the police, the incident reportedly followed an encounter between Eje and the suspect’s three-year-old child. Eje was said to have hugged and played with the child, an interaction the suspect allegedly considered inappropriate and described as “rough play.”
The police said the disagreement escalated when the suspect allegedly picked up a bamboo stick and repeatedly struck Eje, causing him to collapse.

Eje, a 38-year-old university graduate who reportedly held a degree in Guidance and Counselling, later died from the incident.
The police had initially said the suspect fled with his family following the incident. However, the command subsequently confirmed his arrest.
The Ogun State Police spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the suspect has been moved to the State CID in Eleweran for further investigation.
Authorities have yet to disclose further details on the circumstances surrounding the death or any charges that may be filed against the suspect.
