A beer truck crash in Lagos took an unusual turn on Tuesday after commuters reportedly scrambled to drink bottles of beer that spilled onto the road.
The incident occurred at Abalti Barracks, inward Ojuelegba, when a beer-laden Fuso truck reportedly crashed into a dispatch rider and two vehicles.
According to LASTMA, the truck driver was travelling at high speed when he attempted to avoid a vehicle ahead but lost control and crashed. The dispatch rider sustained serious injuries and was rescued by LASTMA officials for medical attention.
Several bottles of beer fell from the truck during the crash, attracting commuters who began picking up unbroken bottles and drinking from them. Some were also reportedly seen using plastic containers to collect the spilled beer.

LASTMA officials intervened and stopped people from consuming the drinks, while the police and LAWMA assisted in managing the scene and clearing broken bottles from the road.
The agency also urged motorists to avoid reckless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol, as part of its Ember Months road-safety campaign.
LASTMA further announced its emergency hotline, 3367, for reporting accidents, reckless driving and other road-related incidents requiring urgent intervention.
