
Two suspected armed robbers were reportedly killed during a gun battle with police operatives in Lagos, while another alleged gang member was arrested.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, disclosed this while briefing journalists on the command’s recent operations.
According to Fatai, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit acted on intelligence about a suspected robbery gang and traced the suspects to their hideout along Gasikia Road, Ijora-Badia, on October 4.

He said the suspects opened fire after sighting the police, leading to a gun duel in which two members of the gang were killed.
The commissioner said one suspect escaped, while another, identified as 26-year-old Patrick Azure, was arrested.
Police reportedly recovered two Beretta pistols and four rounds of live 9mm ammunition from the scene.
Fatai said preliminary investigations indicated that the gang was preparing to carry out a robbery before the police intervention.
He added that efforts were ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect and recover additional weapons allegedly used by the gang.
Speaking to journalists, Azure, who identified himself as a citizen of the Republic of Benin, admitted that he had accompanied the gang on previous operations.
He claimed that two members of the gang, identified as Azeez and ID, were the suspects killed during the confrontation with police.
According to him, the gang had picked him up from his residence before they were intercepted by the police.
Azure further alleged that he had participated in three previous operations with the group and received between N50,000 and N250,000 for his involvement.
