The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a tricycle rider, identified as Wisdom Edet, and recovered items allegedly stolen from a victim during an armed robbery.

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a tricycle rider, identified as Wisdom Edet, and recovered items allegedly stolen from a victim during an armed robbery.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, said the suspect was arrested on August 21, 2026, during a stop-and-search operation in the Mbak Itam area of the state.
According to the police, operatives intercepted a tricycle with registration number PBT 322 QN, allegedly ridden by Edet. The rider was said to have ignored an order to stop at a checkpoint, prompting officers to pursue the vehicle.
During the chase, two passengers reportedly jumped out of the moving tricycle and escaped, while the rider was apprehended.
A search of the tricycle led to the recovery of an HP laptop, a PlayStation 4 game player, a torchlight, two face caps, a power bank and a key wallet holder, among other items.
The police said a complainant, identified as Samuel, had earlier reported that his HP laptop and PS4 game player were stolen during a robbery at gunpoint. He later identified the recovered items as his property.
The victim was also said to have identified some clothing recovered from the tricycle as similar to those allegedly worn by the suspects during the robbery.
Commissioner of Police Baba Mohammed Azare commended the operatives for their professionalism and urged residents to continue providing credible information to security agencies to support efforts to tackle crime across the state.
Police said investigations were ongoing as efforts continued to identify and apprehend the fleeing suspects. operation in the Mbak Itam area of the state.
