
The Katsina State Police Command has successfully foiled an attempted bandit attack on Unguwar Bido and Unguwar Kanawa villages in Dandume Local Government Area, arresting one suspect and rescuing two injured residents during a late-night operation.
According to a statement from DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the attack occurred at about 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday when armed bandits invaded the communities.
A distress call from residents prompted a swift response from police operatives in the area.
The Divisional Police Officer in Dandume mobilized a tactical team to the scene, where officers engaged the attackers in a fierce gun duel.
The confrontation forced the bandits to retreat, reportedly with casualties, while one suspect was captured during the operation.

Two residents who sustained injuries during the exchange of fire were immediately evacuated to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.
The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State, CP Ali Umar Fage, commended the operatives for their bravery and prompt action. He also directed a thorough investigation and a manhunt for the fleeing suspects.
Residents were urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to security agencies through the emergency lines provided by the command.
