Operatives of the Kano State Anti-Phone Snatching Force have arrested a young man, identified as Usman Sulaiman, in connection with the alleged robbery of a commercial tricycle operator in Kano.
The suspect, who hails from Dorayi Quarters, was apprehended following a complaint that he robbed the rider along New Panshekara Road in the Panshekara area, making away with the victim’s daily earnings reportedly amounting to ₦16,000.
Spokesperson of the task force, Ibrahim Garba Ahmad, confirmed the arrest during a media briefing. He explained that the Commander of the unit, Nura Salisu Sharada, ordered a swift operation after receiving intelligence on the incident, leading to the suspect’s capture.

While in custody, Sulaiman reportedly showed remorse, attributing his actions to drug abuse. He claimed the substances he consumes often impair his judgment and push him into acts he would not ordinarily commit.
However, the suspect disputed the amount allegedly stolen, insisting that he only took ₦2,000 from the victim, contrary to earlier reports.
Authorities have since transferred the suspect to the appropriate security agency for further investigation and possible prosecution.
